Gazza
May Become a Scholar
Chasetown
boss Michael Rowe has made a cheeky offer to Wolves boss
Dave Jones.
FITNESS
He's offered to give Paul Gascoigne a run-out with
the Scholars if Jones wants to check the former England
star's fitness.
Rowe
is more concerned about the state of Dave Cockbill, who
is nursing bruised
ribs
after being the victim of a car accident. But Chasetown should
be boosted by the return of Aaron Skelding, Rob Simcox and former
Kidderminster Harriers ace Steve Taylor.

Gascoigne
So Happy to be Invited
Paul Gascoigne
has completed his first training session with
the Wolves
squad. The former England star arrived at the Compton
Park training ground this morning with his former international
team mate
and friend, Paul Ince before meeting the rest of the Wolves
players.
After training the
36-year-old spoke about the reasons why he chose to contact
Wanderers as he seeks to regain his full fitness. "I
spoke to Paul Ince a few days ago and asked him if he thought
I’d be able to come and train here," he said. "I
need to get my fitness up and while I’ve been working
in the gym a lot on my own, I needed to get in touch with
a ball again. So, through speaking to Paul, I got an invite
from Dave Jones and here I am.
"I
really enjoyed this morning’s session. They’re
a great bunch of lads and I can’t tell you how pleased
I am to have been invited here, to a Premier League team. It
doesn’t really do anyone any harm, my being here and
I’ll train until the end of the week and then see what
happens next week. It’ll
take me a few weeks to be match fit but as all I am doing
is training then there’s no real timescale on how
long I’ll be here or what I do after that."
Paul
has most recently been playing in China but the former
Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio
and Rangers star
parted company with Gansu Tianma six months ago. Over
the past few weeks there has been reports linking
him with a Middle Eastern club and Third Division Darlington.
"I
just miss the banter in the dressing room," said
Paul. "There’s been talk of Dubai and places like
that but nothing’s come off as yet. "I’m
just going along, working on my fitness and I’d love
to get back playing. If anything came of training here then
that’d be great but if not, that’s not a problem.
I really miss the game and it’s great being back with
lads out training again."
